GIOVANNI GASTEL

Gastel is one of the most famous fashion photographers of this moment and works for the most prestigious fashion magazines all over the world. Before he became a photographer, Gastel wrote poems, which he never stopped doing. In the 70’s, when he started with photography, he just took pictures at weddings, made portraits, small still-lives and occasional kids’ fashion photo sessions. Carla Ghiglieri became his agent in 1981 and introduced him to the world of fashion. In 2002 he started working for Vogue and within the La Kore Oscar della Moda event, he was awarded the Oscar for photography.

His images are characterized by a poetic irony, while his passion for art leads him to introduce a well balanced composition in his pictures. His fashion photos go far beyond fashion: he shows the models as people with emotions , not just as hangers or bodies.
